On Tuesday afternoon of 12th April, 2022, the English teaching and research group of Anqing Foreign Language School’s Junior High Department held the Young Teachers' Basic Skills Competition, the main content of which is the evaluation and analysis of the examination papers of the Senior High School Entrance Exam. Additionally, the purpose of this competition is to build a platform for teachers to display their talents, motivate English teachers to continue to learn, improve their professional level together, and effectively promote the professional growth of teachers.
Therefore, the participating teachers attached great importance to this competition and put a lot of energy and time into preparation before the competition. What’s more, every young teacher carried their responsibility and pressure. During the competition, all the contestants were graceful and fluent in pronunciation, who were good at creatively integrating resources when evaluating the test points of the papers. When guiding the reading process, the teachers' pronunciation and intonation were pure and natural with clear, sweet and loud voices. Moreover, in terms of expression, the teachers laid emphasis on stress and sentence pause, with moderate rhythm, fluent speed and rich expression, which fully demonstrated the solid basic skills and creative teaching mode of the English teachers with the Junior High Department.
Furthermore, the implementation of this Junior High School English Basic Skills Competition is not only a test of English teachers' teaching level, but also an exploration of improving the quality and efficiency of classroom teaching under the background of the policy of ‘reducing students’ homework burden and reducing the burden of off-campus training for students.’
In conclusion, ‘the tide was full, the water was wide between the banks, the wind was strong, and it was a good time to hoist the sails and set sail. Meanwhile, we should shoulder heavy responsibilities, seize the time to complete the tasks and devote ourselves as long as life endures.’ Thus, on the way to promote the continuous progress of English teaching in Anqing Foreign Language School, each of our English teachers should be forward-looking, apply themselves to the future, dare to innovate, pursue excellence, and shoulder our educational responsibilities and missions.
